Classic Photo Texts Reading Group

This group began meeting through video conference every fortnight near the beginning of the Covid-19 pandemic, in March 2020. As our studios closed to support public health initiatives, I thought it would be a good time to fill some gaps in my awareness of contemporary photography writing and criticism. "Classic" is certainly flexible, though my idea is that each piece ought to have some already-established connection to another body of photographic theory or practice. "Photography," also, is somewhat flexible since the reproduction of printed images writ more broadly comes up regularly (hello printmaking).

So far the group has brought together friends and colleagues from California and Minnesota, including Rick Miller, Maria McVarish, Xavier Tavera, Paul Shambroom, and Jenny Schmid.

Experimental Geography Tea Hour

Ad-hoc, informal gatherings to learn foundations and create new directions where art and geography overlap.  We chat, critique, share, review, present, watch videos, and otherwise commune so that our research collectively grows.
