Tactile Spaces

This project brings together sculptors of various styles and approaches to interject a tactile materiality into some of human geography's most salient ideas of space.  From John Allen's Topologies of Power, to Stuart Elden's vertical volumes, to Steinberg & Peters's Oceanic Thinking, this collection of objects challenges the metaphors employed by theoretical geographers by making them tactile.  How spatial metaphors come into being and are employed by researchers is sharpened by this making process, ideally leading to better metaphors that more closely align with ever-changing realities.
