Taking a Look at Landscape Magazine

30 November 2016

Dr. Bauch recently made a sterling acquisition that in the form of a near-complete, like-new condition run of Landscape Magazine. This journal was edited and partly authored by J.B. Jackson, known to twentieth-century geography and architecture for developing notions of the vernacular landscape, as well as methods for performing landscape interpretation, most notably in the American West. During Tea Hour, we sat down and looked through some of the original hard copy issues to appreciate the works found within their pages and brainstorm about potential projects that could be done with them. These issues are truly a rare find, and we enjoyed getting to flip through the pages and have some great discussions about all the different articles we discovered and how they fit in with our studies. It was an enriching experience for all who stopped by! Dr. Bauch shared the story of how he came across such an impressive trove of the magazine and some of the significance they have within the field of geography and Geo-Humanities.
